Using food-only mode

What is food-only mode?

Food-only mode is a special setting that limits what you see in Easy Diet Diary. It’s enabled by your dietitian, nutritionist, or researcher when they invite you to connect your diary to their professional account on Foodworks.online.

In food-only mode, you can still log all your food and drink as usual. However, the app hides certain features. You’re not shown:

  • Calories or kilojoules (energy)
  • Nutrient information (like protein, fat, or carbohydrates)
  • Weight tracking tools
  • Graphs showing your energy intake or weight changes
  • Personal profile fields like sex, height, or weight

This mode is designed to help you focus on recording what you eat without distractions or pressure from numbers. Your professional will review your entries and handle the analysis.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can I turn food-only mode on or off myself?

No. Only a professional using Foodworks.online can enable or disable food-only mode. It is set during the invitation process.

Why am I not seeing any nutrition information in the app?

If you're in food-only mode, the app hides this information by design. Your professional has chosen this mode to help you focus on logging your food only.

Can I still track my weight?

No. Food-only mode disables weight tracking features in the app.

Will my food diary still be useful to my dietitian or researcher?

Yes. They will receive your food diary entries through Foodworks.online and can view all the nutritional details even though you can’t.

What happens if I stop working with my professional?

If the link between your account and your professional is removed, your app will return to normal and you’ll regain access to all features, including nutrition and weight tracking.

I have a technical issue, who can I contact?

Start by asking your clinician or research coordinator. For app support, you can also contact: edd@xyris.com.au or submit a ticket on this support site. For app use, most of the support articles on this learning and support site will still be applicable to food-only mode.

Can I use the app if I don’t have an internet connection?

Yes. You can log foods offline. Your entries will sync with your professional’s account the next time you're connected to the internet.

What happens if I delete the app or change phones?

If you reinstall the app or switch devices, simply log back into your account using your email address and password. Your diary and connection to your professional will remain intact.
