About the values

Macronutrient distribution, also known as macros, refers to the relative proportion of carbohydrates, proteins and fats in your diet. These values are calculated by determining the percentage of total energy (calories or kilojoules) that is derived from each macronutrient.

The percentage for macronutrient distribution is calculated using the following factors:

Carbohydrate = 17 kJ or ~4 Cal per gram

Protein = 17 kJ or ~4 Cal per gram

Fat = 37 kJ per or ~9 Cal gram

Any additional energy that does not come from the aforementioned macronutrients is recorded under Other nutrients. These include dietary fibre, alcohol, sugar alcohols, organic acids and polydextrose, all of which provide energy.

Note

Macronutrient distribution is calculated in kilojoules and converted to calories, therefore the values may be subject to some small rounding discrepancies.
