How do I log a food that I can't find in the database?

When a food is not in the database, you can create your own. You just need to know its energy (kJ or Cal) per serve.

To create a food and log it in your diary:

  1. In the Diary screen, tap a meal, e.g. Breakfast, to open the meal to which you want to add the food.
  2. At the bottom of the screen, tap the plus (+).
  3. Tap My Foods.
  4. Tap the plus (+) at the bottom of the list.
  5. Type the food details. NOTE: Only Name, Serving Size and Energy are mandatory.
  6. At the top of the screen, tap Add.
  7. When asked 'Add <food> to diary now?' tap OK.
  8. To enter the quantity, tap the amount box and type a number and then tap a measure (e.g. g).
  9. At the top of the screen, tap Add.
  10. To return to your diary, at the top of the screen, tap the meal name.

NOTES:

  • To use this food again in your diary, open the meal to which you want to add it, tap the plus (+), and tap the My Foods tab. It will be listed there in alphabetical order.
  • If you want to edit the food, access the food by tapping the menu button (mceclip0.png)
  •  on Android, or the More button (...) on iOS, then tapping My Foods, and tapping the food name.
